The Role: Alternate Quality Assurance Person (AQAP)

We are hiring an Alternate Quality Assurance Person (AQAP) to support and act as the alternate to the Quality Assurance Person (QAP). You’ll play a vital role in ensuring that all cultivation, production, and compliance processes meet or exceed regulatory and internal quality standards.

This is a hands-on leadership role within the Quality Assurance team—ideal for someone with strong regulatory knowledge, leadership ability, and a passion for craft cannabis.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance Management (85%)
  • Ensure strict adherence to Health Canada regulations, SOPs, and Good Production Practices (GPP)
  • Maintain, revise, and manage SOPs and training documentation
  • Lead internal audits, vendor evaluations, and participate in Health Canada inspections
  • Approve and review records within Elevated Signals
  • Conduct quality training for production teams and assist with regulatory reporting (e.g., CTLS, B300s)
  • Manage sample selection, analytical testing (internal and external CoAs), and incoming material approvals
  • Oversee cannabis transfer documentation in collaboration with the sales team and Assistant QAP
  • Coordinate with sanitation and maintenance teams to ensure compliance documentation and labelling protocols are up to date
  • Drive continual improvement of quality systems and production reliability through trend analysis and data reporting
Shipping & Receiving Oversight (15%)
  • Release finished product batches for shipment
  • Review and approve shipping documentation and material intake processes, including quarantine, batch code tracking, and sanitation protocols
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Must have or be eligible to obtain Security Clearance from Health Canada
  • 2+ years experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Control, preferably in cannabis or regulated manufacturing
  • Background in Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacology, Food Science, or a related scientific discipline
  • Deep understanding of the Cannabis Act, GPP, GMP, and relevant provincial regulations
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable using QA software systems (e.g., Elevated Signals)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment with exposure to cannabis pollen, allergens, and strong plant odors
  • Comfortable wearing PPE for extended periods and working on-site
